If you’re wondering How can I help?, here's an overview of areas where we need volunteer skills, so let us know if you’re interested in any of these areas:
Picking fruit, pruning trees - We try for good weather and 3-4 hour work sessions for the field work. It is active work, but not physically demanding. We're done picking for this year, but are glad to add you to our list for next harvest season. We’ll have multiple pruning opportunities this winter. NWFR is licensed and insured.
IT help – Refining/maintaining the website, setting up software for accounting, harvest scheduling, and volunteer and donor relations data management.
Grant writing, fundraising- NWFR operated on a shoestring budget this year, but future plans will require significant funding.
Advisor for an artisanal fruit processing facility – Someone with experience in a commercial fruit processing facility will be great to advise on the design of a small-scale processing line, sourcing equipment and meeting regulatory requirements.

Classes
Would you like to take a NWFR class on Severe Pruning of Neglected Apple and Pear Trees? You'll attend a field workshop and have a few hours of supervised, hands-on severe pruning experience. Written course materials here.
Before severe pruning: 6 months after severe pruning:
Or you might like the workshop on Grafting to Propagate New Fruit Trees. Learn to graft a tree or two and take them home. Last year's class reported that most of the student's grafts "took" (were successful). Written course materials here.
Let us know if you'd like to take a class. We'll schedule for weekends when most everyone can attend.
